They asked if Jessica could fight with swords, and the next day sent her a clip of sword combat. Jessica was reading the script of the role, knew it would be essential to master weaponry. Therefore, she took her very first practice lesson. Jonathan Glassner says that her stunt crew were astonished by how well she did in her first class. The Outpost marked her first major film in the US since her prior movies were from Australia. The role capitalizes on Jessica's passion of action, with her mix horses, martial arts, weapon skills, and athletic ability that allows her to perform stunts and thoroughly play the role of a strong woman. Jessica has learned to box, learn muay Thai and is a member of a mixed martial arts gym in Australia. Jake Stormoen saw dogs roaming about the filming set of Season 4 while on set. It was discovered that the stray dog belonged to a litter if stray pups who were living on sets. Jessica fostered at least two of the puppies.
